NiDCOM Commends Ekiyor-Solanke’s Landmark CEO Appointment

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has lauded the historic appointment of Nigerian social impact leader Thelma Ekiyor-Solanke, as the first Black International Chief Executive Officer of Women for Women International.

In a statement signed by the Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocol Unit at NiDCOM, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, the Commission described the development as a significant milestone not only for Nigeria but also for the global African diaspora, highlighting the growing recognition of Nigerian professionals on the world stage.

A distinguished expert in economic empowerment, gender advocacy, and sustainable development, Ekiyor-Solanke brings decades of experience to her new role.

As CEO, she will lead Women for Women International’s mission to support women survivors of war and conflict by providing access to education, financial resources, and community support across several countries.

Defining Moment for Nigeria

The Chairman/CEO of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, hailed the appointment as a defining moment for Nigeria and its diaspora community.

She noted that Ekiyor-Solanke’s emergence reflects the resilience, excellence, and global impact of Nigerians worldwide.

“This is a proud and defining moment for Nigeria and the diaspora. Thelma’s leadership is a testament to the brilliance and influence of Nigerians globally,” Dabiri-Erewa said.

She added that the achievement serves as an inspiration to a new generation of Nigerian women and young leaders to aspire to top positions in global institutions.

NiDCOM reaffirmed its commitment to recognizing and supporting Nigerians in the diaspora who continue to make outstanding contributions across various sectors.

The Commission also called for sustained collaboration in promoting and celebrating Nigerian excellence internationally.
