Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has secured a significant contract to provide connectivity to INFRATEL Africa, a telecom giant working on backhauling rural infrastructure projects in the country.

The project will migrate 100 locations to the NigComSat-1R Ka-band hub platform.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Mrs. Aisha Bantam, Assistant General Manager of Corporate Affairs, NIGCOMSAT.

The connectivity will improve rural connectivity and further bridge the digital divide, aligning with the present administration’s digital economy goals. The NigComSat-1R satellite capacity will continue to support businesses by enhancing connectivity solutions to expand telecom networks.

The Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Mrs. Nkechi Jane Egerton-Idehen, said the collaboration with INFRATEL Africa is a welcome development, positioning NIGCOMSAT Ltd to claim its rightful place in the industry.

Mrs. Egerton-Idehen noted that since assuming office about eight months ago, she has received the cooperation of staff and customers, enabling significant progress in delivering services such as transponder leases, broadband internet, broadcast services, and other turnkey solutions.
