The Governor of Niger State in North Central Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Bello, has commended the conduct of the Local government election in the State.
Governor Abubakar Bello stated this while free-casting his votes at the Alkali Mustapha unit of the Kontagora Local Government area of the State.
The Governor who faulted the late commencement of the election due to a banditry attack along Kontagora and other parts of the state on the eve of the election; commended the Security agencies for urgently repelling the attack.
“There was an attack a day before the elections along Minna, Kagara -Kontagora route by bandits, many travelers couldn’t proceed with their journey at that moment, and that has definitely affected the movement of election sensitive materials through that axis “.
The NNPP senatorial candidate in Kontagora senatorial zone, Alhaji Ibrahim Wali, who also commended the conduct of the election and the large turned out of people, urged the state electoral commission on the need to fair the outcome of the election.
Hon. Abdullahi Garba representing Kontagora, Mariga, Mashegu and Wushishi constituencies, commended politicians and security agencies in the zone for making the activities of the elections peaceful.
