Niger state mourns first Grand Khadi, Sheikh Lemu

The Government of Niger State on North Central Nigeria has sympathised with the family of Sheikh Ahmed Lemu on the demise of the renowned Minna-based Islamic Scholar.

In a condolence message, The Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello described Sheikh Ahmed Lemu as a renowned Islamic Scholar, intellectual, Author and Educationist who served in the field of education for more than half a century.

The renown Islamic Scholar died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of ninety-one.

The Governor said the deceased, who was the first Grand Khadi in the State, lived an accomplished life having made significant contributions to nation building especially in the areas of security, reconciliation, dialogue, Islamic jurisprudence and advancement of Islamic education.

The governor said his involvement in Islamic humanitarian activities could not be forgotten.

Sheikh Ahmed Lemu, according to the Governor, was an advocate of moderation, justice, open mindedness and a strong supporter of youth development.
