Police Officers in Niger State, North Central Nigeria have been urged on the need to restrategise plans on reducing the high rate of crime across the State.
The Commissioner of police in charge of Niger State command, CP Ogundele Ayodeji stated this during his maiden conference with senior Police officers and DPOs in the State.
CP Ayodeji who assumed duty as the 36th Commissioner of Police in the State a few days ago, said “by means of proactiveness, Police officers must identify critical stakeholders to work with, towards fighting crime and criminality to the barest minimum”.
The Commissioner of Police who further emphasized on intelligence gathering directed Divisional Police Officers, (DPO’s) on the need to spread their tentacles for information within their area of responsibility as part of proactive measure.
“Niger State is the largest State in the nation, thereby making it vulnerable to challenges of crime and criminality”.
The CP who used the occasion to decorate 6 newly promoted senior officers in the Command, noted that promotion is a thing of joy and sort of acknowledgement for hardwork and dedication to duty.
DCP Shaibu A. Audu on behalf of the promoted officers appreciated the Inspector General of Police, the Police Service Commission and the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command. He promised that they will redouble their efforts in crime fighting, as to whom much is given, much is expected.
