Nigeria adopts new strategy to curtail banditry

Nigerian government has resolved to apply both political and Military approaches in dealing with insurgency and other forms of criminal activities across the Nation.

 

The National security adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari, Babagana Monguna stated this in Minna, the Niger State capital, during a visit to the state  by the federal government delegation on Wednesday.

 

The federal government delegation which includes The NSA, Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, Minister of police affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, and The Inspector General of police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu were in Niger state  to console  the government on the recent abduction of 27 students  4 members of staff and other  family members of the school community.

 

Monguno further assured Nigerians that the new approaches  embarked upon by the government would surely bring a fruitful result in bringing down incessant insecurity across the nation.

 

” President Muhammad Buhari, is ready and determined  to apply everything at his disposal both kinetic and non kinetic  to make Nigeria more secure,” he said.

 

The frequent kidnapping of  School children, according to Monguno is worrisome,  as its happening within the span of 90 days, one in Kankara Katsina state  and now in Kagara Niger state.

 

The Minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Muhammed  while responding to Voice of Nigeria,on their visit to Niger state and the security situation across the country, called  for the engagement of stakeholders within the society due to the  asymmetric  nature of the situation, so as to get rid of the menace as and when due .

 

He however  emphasised on president Muhammad Buhari’s   commitment  in   ensuring adequate  security and safety in all parts of the country.

 

The Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello who appreciates  the visit by the federal government’s delegation to his state on the recent  banditry activities in parts of the state, also appealed to the federal government on the need  to  proffer proper and permanent solutions to the issue of insecurity across the state and Nigeria at large.

While soliciting  understanding and cooperation of the people to  unanimously condemn all act of banditry and criminality with one voice,

 

The  Niger state Governor however appealed  to the public on the need to provide adequate  information that will assist in getting back the abducted people safely.
