The Nigerian Government has pledged to complete the ongoing 15-kilometre Lafia bypass stretching to Makurdi, leading to the South-Eastern region of the country, praising the speed and quality of work.
Speaking during an inspection tour across Nasarawa State, the Federal Controller of Works (Nasarawa State), Ishaku Mamri, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work being done by Harbor Engineering at the project site.
The government believes that the road would ease the intractably long drive and traffic situation experienced when moving through Lafia metropolis.

He said the road project, which was initially awarded with a completion period of 48 months, is already at 92.6 per cent completion, noting that it would be completed to ensure the free flow of commuters by the end of March 2026.
He observed that the project had undergone series of engineering integrity assessments from professional regulatory institutions, commending the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, for his commitment to quality and the speedy completion of all ongoing works across the nation.
Also speaking, Director of Information and Public Relations (Federal Ministry of Works), Muhammad Ahmad, explained that the road is one of the projects being constructed by the Bola Tinubu administration to connect the six geographical regions of the nation.
He emphasised that the government would not entertain sharp practices in the construction or renovation of public infrastructure.

He noted that the Minister is committed to completing all projects awarded by the Ministry, and that this would enhance visibility, safety and security, as well as improve socio-economic opportunities in the areas.
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Works, Housing and Transport, Muazu Gosho, expressed the state government’s continued readiness to cooperate with the Federal Government in responding to the critical infrastructure needs of the citizenry.
Meanwhile, the inspection tour took the team to Kwarra community, a rural area in Keana LGA of Nasarawa State, to commission a 6.4-kilometre road project, which was awarded in 2022 and is expected to stretch about 10.6 kilometres.
