President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s economy has stabilised under his leadership, noting that the country has regained respect on the global stage after years of neglect, revenue leakages, and corruption.

He made the remarks while receiving His Imperial Majesty, the Soun of Ogbomosho, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Laoye, at the State House, Abuja, in the presence of ministers and senior officials.

President Tinubu said his administration’s tough but necessary decisions since May 2023 have stopped the haemorrhage of public funds and restored integrity. He noted that years of “neglect, fake records, smuggling, and arbitrage trading” had denied the country critical revenue, while corruption in the currency market worsened the situation.

“We have established NELFUND for students. Everybody is entitled to education. It is the greatest weapon you can give a human being against poverty. We are renewing our infrastructure aggressively; Nigeria is alive; Nigeria is respected. Nigeria is becoming a great business partner to the rest of the world,” he said.

Addressing Ogbomosho’s challenges, President Tinubu promised urgent action on electricity, water supply, and mechanised irrigation, directing the Minister of Water Resources to address the town’s dams.

“Water is life. We will do everything to respond to that,” he assured.

He also pledged federal support for agriculture, skills development, and youth employment, highlighting the town’s farmlands for cashew, mangoes, and other crops.

Oba Ghandi Laoye commended President Tinubu’s leadership, urging federal intervention in Ogbomosho’s power and water projects to ease the plight of residents.
