The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to a merit-based system where the advancement of women is determined by competence, dedication, and ambition.
The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi. stated this during an event organised to commemorate International Women’s Day where female officers in the Service were celebrated.
The CGC said the initiative was aimed at recognising the contributions of over 6,000 women serving in various capacities across the Service.
He noted that the gesture goes beyond symbolic recognition, stressing that the Service is committed to supporting women through deliberate policies, postings, deployments, and career opportunities.
“We see your sacrifices and celebrate you. You may not always get credit for how much you manage simultaneously, but this institution recognises your contributions,” he said.
“We will continue to demonstrate this not just through events, but through policies and opportunities that support your growth, whether at headquarters or in remote border stations.”
