Nigeria, Czech Republic to Deepen Women Empowerment Ties

The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has met with the Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, Tomáš Výprachtický, to explore areas of collaboration on women’s empowerment.

The ties strengthening was made during a courtesy call on the Minister by the Czech Ambassador  to Nigeria, Tomáš Výprachtický, recently in Abuja, the nation’s Capital.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated that discussions “explored areas of collaboration, including documenting the stories of Nigerian women and girls, and elevating the voices and visibility of women in football.”

The Minister noted that “The engagement reflects a shared interest in leveraging storytelling, culture, and sport to amplify women’s experiences and broaden representation both locally and internationally.”

The Czech team has described the engagement as a step forward in bilateral cooperation.

Ambassador Tomáš Výprachtický,  accompanied by Commercial Counsellor Marie Nwanyanwu (Development Cooperation), presented a broad portfolio of initiatives supporting women and girls across Nigeria;  “from leadership mentoring in the Niger Delta, to girls’ education in Abuja, intergenerational dialogue of women leaders, and the Government’s Cool Czechia programme.”

The Czech entourage included internationally acclaimed Czech documentary photographer Jarmila Štuková, who is  currently in Nigeria working with the Embassy on a new documentary cycle focused on resilience and women’s strength.

Possible areas of  cooperation on “documenting the Ministry’s priority themes was also discussed.”

The Czech’s look forward to strengthening structured cooperation in advancing women’s empowerment, youth leadership and civil society development.
