The Nigerian Government has expressed concern over reports of an Israeli airstrike in Doha, Qatar, reportedly targeting senior members of the Hamas leadership.

In a statement, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kimiebi Ebienfa said Nigeria upholds the sovereignty of all nations and the supremacy of international law, especially in matters involving cross-border use of force

“This development raises serious questions about regional stability and the prospects for ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,” Ebienfa said.

He noted Qatar’s longstanding role as a mediator in the Middle East and urged all parties to act with caution.

“We extend our heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the incident and reiterate our unwavering support for initiatives that promote de-escalation, dialogue, and durable peace,” he said.

Ebienfa promised that Nigeria remains ready to work with the United Nations and other multilateral partners to advance peace, security, and the rule of law in the Middle East and beyond.
