The Nigerian Government has officially launched the Enterprise Content Management, ECM, system at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s drive toward digital governance.

Unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja, the ECM system aims to digitize records, automate workflows, and reduce paper-based operations.

The initiative aligns with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021–2025 (FCSSIP 25), which targets 80% digitalization of government operations by 2025 and a paperless civil service by 2030.

The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, commended the ministry’s staff for their dedication, stating that their efforts have laid the groundwork for a client-oriented, efficient public service.

The ECM is not just a tool; it’s a manifestation of a new way of working that is efficient, responsive, and transformational,” he said.

The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack said the launch signals government’s commitment to reimagining public service in a digital era.

She revealed that over 31,000 official email addresses have been created across MDAs, with a new website powered by Galaxy Backbone’s VPS set to go live soon.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Daju Kachollom, described the ECM as a secure, integrated solution that will enhance data security, improve collaboration, and reduce operational costs.

The ministry becomes the 11th core MDA to adopt the ECM system, joining others like the Office of the Head of Service and the Ministries of Finance, Education, and Solid Minerals Development.

Stakeholders at the launch  affirmed the system’s potential to boost service delivery and national development.
