Nigeria has taken a significant step towards building a safer and more transparent digital economy with the official launch of the National Digital Trustmark.

The initiative, led by the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) and supported by GIZ, brings together key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to strengthen trust and security across the country’s digital space.

Speaking at the event, the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, represented by the Director of Corporate Planning and Strategy, Dr Wariowei Dimie, emphasised that trust remains the cornerstone of a vibrant and sustainable digital economy.

The National Digital Trustmark introduces a structured framework for certifying credible online businesses, allowing consumers to engage in digital transactions with greater confidence.

It also aims to promote transparency, safeguard users, and foster the continued growth of Nigeria’s dynamic digital marketplace.

The launch is expected to play a key role in boosting digital inclusion, protecting consumers, and driving sustainable growth within Nigeria’s rapidly expanding online ecosystem.
