The Nigerian Government says it is set to host the first National Agriculture and Food security Summit to enhance farmer’s welfare, boost food security, and address other challenges facing Nigeria’s food system.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Abubakar Kyari in Nigeria made the disclosure in Abuja Nigeria’s capital while reeling out the planned roadmap for the agriculture sector for the next four years.
According to Kyari, the National Agriculture and Food Security Summit “hopes to bring all stakeholderstogether for the development of the National Action Plan for Food Security with an implementation and sustainability strategy.”
He said the summit is programmed to enlist the interest and support of all the actors in Nigeria’s agriculture, focus on food security, affordable and safe nutritious foods , nd farmers’ welfare.

The summit scheduled for November 2023 would be Cchairedand declared opened by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR and where he is expected to make specific declarations and outline the expected call to action for all the stakeholders.
The minister added that in the coming weeks, the summit portal will be launched to kick-start the pre-summit activities.
