Nigeria, Benin Republic Sign MoU on Cross Border Cooperation

The Nigerian Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Benin Republic on Local Cross Border Cooperation.

According to the Director General of the National Boundary Commission NBC, Adamu Adaji who led the Nigerian delegation to the signing, the MoU seeks to promote cross-border cooperation and address the challenges related to cross-border security.

Adaji said it also sought to address the issue of socio-economic development, and fast tracking delimitation and demarcation of the boundary, among other things.

The Nigerian delegation comprised of officials from the National Boundary Commission, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Federal Ministry of Justice, Nigerian Embassy in Cotonou, relevant Security Agencies and all the Chairmen of Border Local Government Areas along the Nigeria-Benin International Border.
