Nigeria has welcomed back 12 Technical Aid Corps (TAC) volunteers who completed a two-year mission in Liberia, marking another milestone in the country’s ongoing commitment to South–South cooperation and knowledge exchange.

The volunteers, who served in Liberia’s education sector, were commended for their professionalism, discipline, and dedication to humanity. Their contributions significantly enhanced the quality of education in post-war Liberia and strengthened the bond between the two nations.

Established in 1987, the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps deploys skilled professionals to partner countries to share expertise and foster sustainable development. The programme supports Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives and reinforces its leadership role in African cooperation and development assistance. Since its inception, NTAC has deployed more than 10,000 professionals to over 40 countries.

The Director-General of NTAC, Rt. Hon. Dr Yusuf Buba Yakub lauded the volunteers for their exceptional service and commitment, stating, “You have gone, seen, and conquered. Your service has made Nigeria proud.”

Dr Yakub reaffirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to sustaining the Technical Aid Corps programme, describing it as a key platform for promoting regional cooperation, mutual growth, and technical excellence across the continent.

The event also featured the deployment of a new set of volunteers to Liberia, who are expected to continue the work of their predecessors in strengthening the country’s educational system.

The new corps members were urged to serve as Nigeria’s “technical ambassadors” by upholding the nation’s values and promoting sustainable development in their host communities.

This development underscores Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to international partnership, knowledge exchange, and the advancement of African development goals.
