
The Super Eagles of Nigeria beat Gabon 4-1 after extra time to knock them out of 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying, advancing to the CAF playoff final as the match ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, at the Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
Nigeria seemed on course for a 1-0 win in regulation time after midfielder Akor Adams pounced on a poor back-pass to give the Super Eagles the lead in the 78th minute.

But the Panthers of Gabon levelled in the 89th minute through Mario Lemina’s deflected shot to send the game to extra time after the match in Rabat ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.
The thrilling contest needed another 30 minutes to separate the sides and the Nigerians came our firing. Chidera Ejuke and Victor Osimhen struck in the first period of added time.

The Galatasaray then man grabbed his second goal of the evening five minutes into the second half of extra time to secure the 4-1 victory.
The victory sends Nigeria into the African playoff final, where they’ll face the Democratic Republic of Congo after they beat Cameroon 1-0 to advance. Only the winner of that mini-tournament will earn a place in the intercontinental playoff for the World Cup.
