The Nigerian Force has called on the Media for more collaboration in order to mitigate the security challenges facing the country.
The New Director of Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Wapkerem Maigide disclosed this during the handover of the Former Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet to the New Spokesperson in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.
Maigide said that “bearing in mind the security challenges that NAF and the media must work together to resolve as partners in efforts to anchor on trust and respect.”
The New Spokesperson noted that that he is fully aware of his responsibilities of his office in which in summary, is to project the operational engagement and other activities of the Nigerian Air Force with aim of galvanizing support and goodwill for the Nigerian Air Force to striving to project Airpower to conquer the mirage security challenges facing the Nation.
He assured that the Directorate will be forging ahead under his watch to continue to use all Social Media platforms to bring out Air Force stories clearly, thus hw will continue to strive and bring to use the media space to enhance National Security in Nigeria.
He appreciated the immediate predecessor’s contributions and men and women of the directorate for the feat achieved so far amongst others adding that he will consolidate on the achievements.
The New Spokesperson employs them to remain steadfast in carrying out their duties as they use reportage to shape the Air Force.
He thanked the Nigerian Chief Of Air Staff, CAS, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao for the honour and privilege giving to him in appointing him as NAF spokesperson.
He assured him as image maker of the Nigerian Air Force that he will continue to project his vision which is to enhance and sustain critical airpower capabilities required for joint force employment in pursuit of national security imperatives and core values of Airmen and Airwomen.
Earlier, the Former NAF Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet who presented the New Spokesperson as he will be going as Commander 551 NAF Station, Jos.
He thanked the media for the support given to him throughout his stay as NAF Spokesperson.
He asked the media to accord the New Spokesperson more respect and support.
Gabkwet said that “CAS action has demonstrated that we must keep this country safe.”
He added that the New Spokesperson is qualified to handle such a position.
