The Armed Forces of Nigeria has demonstrated commitments to modernising military systems and approaches to ensure the protection of our national interests.

The Nigerian Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla made this known during the Second Quarter 2025 Defence Headquarters and Services Transformation Seminar at the Naval Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The theme for this year’s seminar: “Transforming the Future, Leveraging Lessons Learned to Build a more Adaptive and Innovative Military” is both timely and pertinent.

Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu, the Naval Chief said the theme underscores the value of learning from the past operations, refining our doctrines and structures and implementing adaptive measures that will enable us to stay ahead in an increasingly complex battlefield.

According to him, the ever-evolving nature of Nigeria’s security landscape demands continuous innovation and adaptability in strategic thinking and operational planning.

The Naval Chief noted that this event, which rotates among the services and the Defence Headquarters, remains a critical platform for advancing transformational and innovative strategies that enhance the operational effectiveness of the armed forces of Nigeria.

“The seminar’s focus on adaptability and innovation is also in line with the Chief of Defence Staff’s shared vision to entrench a proactive Defence culture across the services”, he said.

He added that the seminar emphasises the need for institutional learning and doctrinal evolution that would drive the transformation of the Armed Forces of Nigeria into a force that is not only resilient and versatile but also strategically positioned to respond to present and emerging threats.
