The General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Ibikunle Ajose, has described the promotion of four senior officers to the rank of Brigadier General as a well-deserved recognition of individual excellence and a testament to the enduring strength of the Nigerian Army.

He made the remarks during a formal decoration ceremony held at the Eagle Officers’ Mess, where he honoured officers recently elevated from the rank of Colonel.

He noted that “their advancement carries renewed responsibility for leadership, professionalism, and national service.”

According to a statement by the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 8 Division Nigerian Army, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the GOC congratulated the officers and expressed confidence in their capacity to justify the trust placed in them through disciplined command and operational excellence.

“I am immensely proud of each of you. Your promotion is not only a recognition of your hard work and commitment, but also a reflection of the strength of the Nigerian Army,” he said.

“I would be honoured to serve alongside you anywhere in the future,” he said.

Major General Ajose also acknowledged the critical role of family support in military careers, describing the families of the newly promoted officers as “silent pillars whose sacrifices sustain operational effectiveness and morale.”

Speaking on behalf of the officers, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the promotion and commended the leadership of the 8 Division Commander.

“We are humbled by this honour and the trust placed in us.

“We pledge to redouble our efforts, exceed expectations and continue serving our nation with integrity and distinction,” he added.

The officers decorated during the ceremony were Brigadier General Mansur Tijani, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration; Brigadier General Husaini Toro, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations; Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu, Commander 58 Signals Brigade; and Brigadier General David Chidozie Ibeh, Commander 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

The event featured the formal decoration of the officers, goodwill messages from senior colleagues, and a brief reflection on their professional journey, before concluding with a group photograph and light refreshments.
