Nigerian Army Intensifies Operations To Dismantle Terrorists

The Armed Forces of Nigeria, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, has intensified operations to dismantle terrorist networks and deny bandits safe havens.

The joint efforts also target economic saboteurs by cutting off their lifelines.

These operations aim to bolster national security, foster stability, and protect Nigeria’s interests at home and abroad.

The Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, made this known during the weekly briefing on the ongoing activities of the troops in different theatres of operation across the country in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

According to him, the operations demonstrated their collective resolve to confront emerging threats in an ever-evolving global security landscape.

“Our focus is to ensure the safety of our personnel while maintaining our duty to inform the public about the efforts and the principles guiding our actions,” he said.

General Kangye affirmed that the Armed Forces is committed to providing the public with timely and accurate information about their activities across the country.

He noted that the forces are currently engaged in both kinetic and non-kinetic operations to combat specific threats, securing the citizens and provide a secure environment for socio-economic activities to thrive.

“These operations are conducted with utmost precision and a clear focus on minimizing collateral damage and ensuring the safety of the civilian population in line with our code of conduct for internal security operations, laws of armed conflict, and campaign plan,” he added.

Accordingly, he highlighted operational activities of the Joint Task Force (JTF):  North East Operations,  Hadin Kai; North West Operation,  Fansa-Yama; North Central Operation Enduring Peace, and Operation Whirl Stroke;  South-South; Operation Delta Safe and South East, Operation Udo Ka.

Overall, troops recovered large quantities of various arms, such as automatic weapons, RPG tubes, machine guns, locally fabricated guns, and improvised explosive devices making material.

The Defence Headquarters commended the bravery and professionalism of the troops involved in all operations and assured Nigerians of its continued efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
