The Nigerian Government says it is committed to addressing the housing deficit in the country by providing affordable homes for civil servants.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan who was at a groundbreaking ceremony of one hundred and sixteen housing units in Abuja Nigeria’s Capital said the Nigerian Government ws committed to providing affordable houses for civil servants.
Dr Yemi-Esan also said the Federal Integrated Staff Housing, FISH, Programme is one of the programmes the government was using to address the housing deficit through Public Private Partnerships.
The Executive Secretary of the Federal Staff Housing Loans Board, in Nigeria, Mr Ibrahim Mairiga said the Nigerian government was working with other developing partners in actualizing affordable housing units for civil servants.
The Executive Secretary said the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of one Hundred and Sixteen, Two Bedroom Semi-Detached Bungalows for the FISH Programme by the Nigerian Minister of Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is a step in addressing housing deficit in the country.
Mr Mairiga also said that the Board needs over Sixty-Seven Billion Naira to address over Forty-One thousand applications by civil servants.
