The Federal Government of Nigeria has fulfilled its earlier promise to members of Nigeria’s women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, with the official presentation of house documents and national honours.
The presentation ceremony was carried out at the team’s base, where they are currently competing in the FIBA Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament in Lyon, France.
The chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, alongside the Director General of the commission, Bukola Olopade, led the government delegation to hand over the physical documents.

The rewards are in recognition of the team’s record-extending fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title, secured in August 2025 after a thrilling victory over Mali in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Following that victory, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced a comprehensive reward package
The gesture represents the Federal Government’s commitment to rewarding excellence and recognising the remarkable achievements of the team on the international stage.
The presentation further reaffirms the government’s resolve to honour its pledges to Nigerian athletes.
