A high powered delegation of the Nigerian Government has extended President Muhammadu Buhari’s condolences to the the Magajin Sokoto and Chairman, Sokoto Rima River Basin Development Authority ( SRRBDA), Alhaji Hassan Ahmad Danbaba, over the death of his mother, Hajiya A’ishatu.
A’ishatu was the eldest daughter of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sardaunan Sokoto.
The delegation was led by Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari. Others were; the Ministers of Police Affairs, Aviation, Justice and Water Resources, Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi, Hadi Sirika, Abubakar Malami (SAN) and Suleiman Adamu, respectfully, as well as Pesident Buhari’s son, Yusuf Buhari.
The delegation was also led to residence of the Magajin Garin Sokoto, the eldest son of the deceased, by the State Governor Aminu Tambuwal and his Deputy, Alhaji Manir DanIya.
Professor Gambari said that, the delegation was in Sokoto, to heartily extend the greetings and condolences of President Muhammadu Buhari to the Magajin Garin Sokoto and family, on the death of a Mother and Sister.
He described the deceased as a ‘Personality in her own right,’ saying her demise is a great loss not only to her family and Sokoto State, but to Nigeria in general.
Professor Gambari prayed to Almighty Allah to grant her Aljannat Firdaus and give her family, people of Sokoto State and Nigerians generally, the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Responding on behalf of the family, Ambassador Shehu Malami, Sarkin Sudan, said that, he felt privileged, honoured and proud to receive the all-important delegation.
He thanked President Buhari for his concern and show of sympathy to the family.
The Sarkin Sudan of Wurno also solicited more prayers, for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
Governor Tambuwal thanked the delegation and President Muhammad Buhari for the condolences, praying Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased and return them back to their various destination safely.
Also speaking, Senator Aliyu Wamakko, representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, described the deceased as a Mother to all. He prayed for the repose of her soul and beseeched the Almighty Allah to grant her Aljannat firdaus and give her family the formidable fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the invaluable gesture, saying “this has shown that he is a leader to all Nigerians.”
He described his late Mother as a ‘friend, mother, sister, brother and everything to him,’ stating that, the deceased was a beacon of piety, patience, perseverance and philanthropy as well as a peacemaker and a bridge builder.
A special prayer session for the repose of the soul of the deceased, was led by the Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika.
The prayer focused on divine guidance and protection for President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders, as well as for sustainable peace, unity and socio-economic prosperity of Nigeria.
The late Hajiya Aisha died on Friday, April 23, 2021, at a Dubai Hospital, at the age of 75, after a prolonged illness.
She was the wife of Alhaji Ahmad Danbaba, Marafan Sokoto, the Chairman of the defunct Northern Nigeria Housing Corporation and one of the members, who represented Sokoto Province at the House of Representatives in the 1960s.
She is survived by five children and a younger sister, who is the last daughter of the late Premier and wife of the late Marafan Sokoto, Alhaji Umaru Shinkafi.
