Nigerian Stock Market ends week on negative note

Nigeria’s equities market got back into the negative zone on Friday as investors were not able to sustain the gain recorded on Thursday.

 

The market capitalization shed N301 billion to close at N21.155 trillion compared with N21.456 trillion on Thursday.

 

The All-Share index fell by 1.40 percent or 574.45 basis points to close at 40,439.85 lower than Thursday’s 41,014.30.

 

Investors traded a total of 395.62million shares valued at N5.19 billion in 5,321 deals.

 

Friday’s trading ended with 32 gainers and 9 losers.

 

Top gainers for the day were UAC property which gained 7k to close at 80k, then Linkassure with 5k gain to close at 59k and Japaulgold, which gained 6k to close at 71k.

 

On the flip side, Livestock lost 22k to close at N2.03k, while Nem Insurance lost 22k to close at N2.05k; Buacement lost N5.7k to close at N73.3k.

 

Zenith Bank dominated activity chart on Friday as it traded 55,601 million shares worth N1.37 billion followed by Transcorp with 42,710 million shares valued at N40.966 million.
