National Population Commission and Civil Defense collaborate On Security

The National Population Commission NPC has partnered with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC in Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria on security during the conduct of the May 2023 Census.
The Anambra State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Isidore Chikere assured the Commission of adequate security protection to guarantee seamless conduct of the National Population and Housing Census in the state.
Mr Chikere gave the assurance when he received the Federal Commissioner of NPC in Anambra State, Mr Chidi Ezeoke.
He said: “We are all partners in progress. I am impressed by the visit, it shows you recognize the importance of NSCDC in the smooth conduct of the exercise. It is nice you are closing all ranks in reaching out to relevant stakeholders. NPC needs the support of all relevant stakeholders to deliver credible and reliable data, in light of this, be assured that NSCDC is putting all the security apparatus in motion for a hitch-free exercise.”
The Federal Commissioner of NPC explained that the 2023 census; the first digital population and housing census would enable the Commission to generate credible, reliable and acceptable high-quality data for the development planning of the country.
“2023 National Population and Housing Census are coming up very soon hence my visit to brief you on the preparation to kick-start it. We are here also to galvanize support security-wise for the exercise. As a relevant stakeholder, we deemed it worthy to come to solicit for the services of your men in the protection of our personnel and materials during the exercise,” he concluded.
The partnership visit ended with discussions on the security strategies to be implemented for the overall success of the exercise.
