President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that Nigeria’s strength as a nation is deeply rooted in the integrity and leadership of its fathers within their homes, describing the home as the “first institution of leadership.”

In a Father’s Day message posted on his verified X handle, @officialABAT, on Sunday, the president paid glowing tribute to Nigerian men across the globe—biological and symbolic—highlighting their quiet sacrifices, resilience, and unrelenting contributions to nation-building.

Our country is only as strong as the men who lead with integrity within their families. To be a father is to carry the weight of responsibility with quiet strength. It is to sacrifice comfort so your children can dream, to model discipline, and to lead with love and firmness,” President Tinubu stated.

The President emphasised that fatherhood goes beyond biological ties, celebrating all men who shoulder the mantle of responsibility and mentor the next generation, whether at home or in public life.

Today, we honour our first teachers, silent defenders, and tireless nation-builders…our fathers,” the President wrote, noting that these values are fundamental not only to family life but to the broader fabric of a stable society.

President Tinubu recounted the fatherhood role, describing it as “the most sacred” of titles.

The home is the first institution of leadership,” he noted, highlighting the foundational role of families in shaping the nation’s future.

The President expressed his gratitude to Nigerian fathers, both within the country and in the diaspora, saying their everyday sacrifices form the moral compass and strength of Nigeria.

President Tinubu further thanked all Nigerian fathers, biological and symbolic, at home and abroad, assuring them that their everyday labours shape the character of the country and the future of the children.
