The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has commenced the second phase of a three-day training for the implementation of Microsoft Learning Management Systems (LMS) for its management staff.
The training, which is taking place at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria, is in line with the strategic policy direction of the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of NiMet, Professor Charles Anosike.
The aim is to foster a culture of continuous development, improvement, and innovation at the agency. It is also in line with the mandate of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, for agencies under the aviation ministry to prioritise staff development.
Professor Anosike expressed confidence that the LMS will revolutionise training programmes in the agency.

“It will set a new standard for online learning within the agency and, by extension, for members of the public who are interested in gaining knowledge about the products and services offered by NiMet,” Prof. Anosike said.
Speaking during the training, the Special Assistant on ICT to the DG/CEO of NiMet, Mr. Cyprian Okpalaku, highlighted the importance of the training programme.
“It is aimed at developing the computer skills of staff and encouraging the adoption, usage, and implementation of the LMS platform in their daily official affairs in the agency. This will also foster synergy among all units and departments of the agency,” he said.
