NITDA , NBC to facilitate Digital Switch Over through Modern Technology

The National Information Technology Development Agency ,  NITDA, is to assist the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) in digitization of its processes through the use of modern digital technology equipment in monitoring media stations.

The NBC also sought the support of NITDA on the use of ICT and Modern Technology in Digital Switch Over , DSO, in every state of the Federation.

This was one of the topics discussed when the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa  received  the  Director General, NBC ,Balarabe  Ilelah, who was a courtesy visit to the Agency’s Corporate Headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

Mr. Inuwa reiterated the commitment of NITDA  towards realising the commission’s vision of embracing digital technologies in its processes.

He said NITDA as a government IT regulatory agency is saddled with the mandate of developing and regulating the use of IT in Nigeria and will deploy its expertise to support any organization with a zeal to upgrade to modern technology.

Inuwa assured that NBC will be incorporated to the NITDA Digital Transformation Working Group  (DTWG) to facilitate capacity building for their personnel in the process of when and how to deploy and apply the technology appropriately.

The NITDA Boss noted  that the agency recently unveiled its Strategic Road Map and Action Plan 2021-2024 (SRAP) and urged the NBC to key into the programme and activities being provided by the Agency.

The SRAP is designed as a template or map to assist the Agency in achieving its target plans through the execution of the strategic pillars, and I am optimistic that our collaboration will uplift the actualization of its mandates such as digital skills, innovation among others“.

He further advised the NBC to come up with a strategy to develop their idea into reality especially in the area of Content Regulations.

On digital booster and coverage, the DG said  NITDA’s technical team will provide assistance to ensure that the NBC actualizes it’s digital strategy vision.

In his remarks, the DG of NBC, Mr. Ilelah stated that the visit is to create mutual understanding and to further intimate NITDA management of his commission’s statutory functions.

Ilelah thanked the NITDA DG for the kind words and described his words as golden marbles.

One of the high points of the visit the DG NBC was a tour around the NITDA digital building and modern equipment for tracking and curbing possible attacks to Nigeria’s cyberspace. Pictures below:
