The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is planning to conduct random doping tests for players.

This is aimed at cracking down on the use of banned drugs.

The NPFL Chief Operating Officer, Sola Owumi stated this at a press conference in Abuja.

The league has purchased testing kits from the UK and given clubs two weeks to prepare their players.

“There’s ongoing training for personnel on how to use the kits,” said  Sola Owumi.

“Players have two weeks to detoxify and get rid of any illicit substances in their system. Those who fail the tests will be subject to full sanctions.”

The 2023/24 NPFL season started last weekend, with Matchday two games this weekend.
