NSC Congratulates Ogunjobi For ITF World Tennis Junior Feat

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has congratulated Success Ogunjobi on her impressive victory at the ITF World Tennis Tour Junior 30 on Saturday in Abuja, Nigeria.

Ogunjobi emerged victorious in both the first and second legs, claiming the second week final single female title. Ogunjobi defeated Luczak Luise of Germany 6-3 7-5 in the final match played at the Tennis Centre of Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

According to Dikko, this achievement is a testament to the NSC’s vision and aligns perfectly with President Bola Tinubu’s mandate to reset, refocus and reboot Nigerian sports.

“This is by emphasising on domestic and grassroots development, we are nurturing talent from the ground up,” Dikko said

“The tournament, featuring top young players under 18 and 15, showcases Nigeria’s potential and highlights the success.”

“Ogunjobi’s recent win is a shining example of Nigeria’s growing prowess in tennis, and the bright future ahead for the sport on the global stage,” he added.

He also praised the collaboration between the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) and the NSC, which made the event a success.

“I extend my congratulations to the President of the NTF, Adedayo Akindoju, for his tireless efforts in collaborating with the NSC to make this event a success,” he said.

Dikko highlighted the importance of synergy among stakeholders, citing the presence of Minister for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musara.

Also, Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawale, said the victory was an evidence of a more integrated approach to national development converge.

“This synergy aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision for national development,” he said.

“By working together, we can ensure that every sector contributes its unique strengths to drive economic growth, ultimately realising on President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda and shared vision for a brighter future for all Nigerians.”

The international Tennis Federation (ITF ) event, started on June 2nd ended on June 14th, at the Tennis Centre of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

A total of twelve countries participated in the tournament; Hosts Nigeria, Ghana, Germany, South Africa, Egypt, India, Korea, China, Spain, France and Thailand.
