The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Audi, has lauded the significant developmental achievements of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Olusola Odumosu.

Audi stated  that the visible transformation of the Command under Odumosu’s leadership justifies his pedigree of hard work and dedication to duty.

The Commandant-General gave the commendation during a facility assessment tour of the newly initiated Obstacle Course Training Centre at the Federal Capital Territory Command.

The visit forms part of the Commandant-General’s 2026 Operational Tour to evaluate the Command’s preparedness and infrastructure development across the federation.

Expressing his satisfaction with the leadership at the Command, Professor Audi said: “What you have done here is very remarkable, of course you cannot give what you do not have, I am indeed proud of your achievements as the FCT Commandant, and you have represented us appropriately.

“Obviously, the FCT Command is the operational base of the National Headquarters. What you have demonstrated in such a short period since you assumed office indicates that you have much to offer the Corps.”

Hub for Innovation

He noted that the FCT Command has become a hub for innovation, saying that the personnel are among the most cherished officers, working intentionally with innovations aimed at moving the Corps forward.

“Even a blind person knows that the Civil Defence of yesterday is not the same as today,” he said.

During the tour, Professor Audi urged personnel to remain committed to the rules and principles of the Corps and cautioned against indolence and mischief.

He advised officers to prioritise the interest of the Service over personal gains and to channel their energy into ventures that other Commands can emulate.

The NSCDC boss also used the occasion to commend President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for the recent promotion of personnel who had been stagnated for years.

He noted that this move has breathed new life into the Renewed Hope agenda within the Service.

The Commandant General announced that the National Headquarters was currently developing a sophisticated College of Arms Squad Service in Nasarawa State and pledged to leverage the blueprint of the FCT’s obstacle course for broader training purposes.

He also assured the FCT Command of the National Headquarters’ support in completing the project in a timely manner.

The visit was concluded with a tactical demonstration at the obstacle course by trained personnel, showcasing the Command’s physical and operational readiness.
