
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has issued a stern warning against the rising get-rich-quick syndrome among youths, saying it’s a dangerous trend fueling crime and social vices.
The Commandant of the NSCDC in the Federal Capital Territory, Dr. Olusola Odumosu, gave the warning while receiving a delegation from the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS) at his office in Abuja.
He cautioned young people to shun unlawful pursuits of wealth and embrace discipline, hard work, and integrity as pathways to lasting success.
Dr Odumosu, who was honoured with an Award of Excellence as “Icon of Selfless Distinction” by the students’ body, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as ‘both humbling and a call to greater service.’
He noted that it reflected the collective efforts of his entire management team and the officers and men of the Corps.
” I am truly grateful to the leadership of NANNS for this gesture. This recognition is not mine alone, I dedicate it to my management team and personnel and whose relentless support is undeniable,” he stated.

The FCT Boss further commended NANNS leadership for their selfless commitment to making a difference through it’s proactive approach in nation – building, particularly in organising symposia and seminars aimed at sensitising students against social vices.
He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the nation with dedication and pledged to collaborate with the association to curb negative activities among youths, especially students, to the barest minimum in the FCT.
“This recognition further underscores the importance of synergy between security institutions and student bodies inof addressing societal challenges in nurturing future leaders, “Dr Odumosu said.
Speaking, the leader of the delegation from NANNS, Comrade Ibrahim Isah Adamu said the award was in recognition of Commandant Odumosu’s outstanding leadership, dedication to national service as well as his unwavering commitment to youth development.
Isah said that the award was to celebrate the Commandant’s significant contribution that has impacted humanity.
” Your practical efforts in strengthening security, promoting civic responsibility and supporting initiatives that positively engage Nigerian youths is commendable,” Isah stated.
He lauded the FCT Boss for the visible transformation of the FCT command since assumption of office, stating “his achievements will remain memorable.”
Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a Medal, Certificate of appreciation and an Award of Excellence as Icon of Selfless Distinction to Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, by NANNS leadership.
