Reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding lives and property in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Nigeria Police Force have met to strategise in boosting security in Abuja.
In a strategic action plan to achieve the goals, the newly deployed Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory, Dantawaye Miller, paid a courtesy visit to the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, in Abuja, where the two security outfits consolidated ways to sustain security in the Federal Capital Territory.
At the visit. Dr Odumosu remarked that the visit has reinforced collaboration between the two security agencies which he said must be sustained.
Dr Odumosu promised the newly deployed Commissioner of Police of the NSCDC maximum cooperation in every area of security in the FCT.
“We must continue to forge ahead and come to a round table to ensure that we move FCT to another level where people can go about their normal businesses without fear of any criminal attack,” the commandant said.
According to him, the visit symbolised the continuity of an already existing relationship between both security agencies.
“So if we can begin to see each other from that point of view, I want to believe that we will have a seamless operation and success against these criminals,” he said.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Dantawaye Miller, reiterated that security was an enormous task and advocated for multi-agency collaboration to attain positive results.
CP Miller, who lauded the Commandant for the synergy he started enjoying upon his resumption, called for stronger and constant joint operations between the two agencies to nip crimes in the bud.
He also appealed for flawless cooperation in terms of intelligence gathering and sharing, pledging absolute commitment to ensure that the synergy continues to yield successes.
“There is a need for enhanced collaboration between both organisations to forge a way forward to ensure proper protection of the territory,” Miller said.
Miller, who said security is a collective responsibility, posited that the importance of eradicating inter-agency rivalry cannot be overemphasised, adding that security organisations are to complement each other.
The Police CP maintained that the was a need to sustain the calmness the metropolis is witnessing now through developing new strategies to foil crimes in the FCT.
