Niger State Government in North central Nigeria has reiterated its commitment to support Security Agencies in the fight against kidnapping, banditry and other forms of criminality in the State.
The State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello stated this during the completion special weapons handling of 101 Officers of Niger State Command of the NSCDC in Minna the state capital on Friday.
The Governor who was represented by Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane further stated that the State Government has been working closely with security agencies and critical stakeholders for the maintenance of peace and stability.
“such close working relationship would continue to be sustained with a view to ensuring a secured environment that will enable all law-abiding citizens to go about their legitimate businesses without any fear of apprehension in the society”.
The Governor according to Lawal Tanko an information officer, expressed optimism that the training will enhance the capacity of the personnel in tackling the menace of banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling in the State.
Governor Sani Bello charged the newly trained Officers to always exhibit a high sense of responsibility in the discharge of their responsibilities.
He commended the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other Security Agencies in the State in their combined effort to rid the State of criminal activities.
Governor Sani Bello also commiserated with the families of those who lost their loved ones as a result of the insecurity that is bedeviling the State.
He reassured the people of the State of his administration committed to end banditry, kidnapping and other criminality in the State.
The Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Niger State Command, Haruna Bala Zurmi. mentioned that the Corps deemed it necessary to train and retrain its personnel on weapon handling so as to bring to the barest minimum crime and other related issues in the State.
The Commandant stressed that with the holistic synergy among all the Security Agencies and other stakeholders, the insecurity that is bedeviling the State will soon be a thing of the past.
