NSE: Market Index rebounds, Capitalization rises by N6bn

Trading activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) gained some momentum on Tuesday as the market index rebounded and market capitalization rose by N6 billion to close at N21.014 trillion compared to Monday’s N21.008 trillion.

 

The All-share index gained 0.03 percent or 10.77 points to close at 40,164.86 basis points as against 40,154.09 points on Monday.

 

Tuesday’s trading saw a total of 337.95 million shares worth N3.84 billion traded in 5,232 deals.

 

The market sentiment, however, remained negative as the market recorded 24 losers relative to 16 gainers at the close of trade.

 

Top on the gainers’ list for the day was AIICO with 8k gain to close at N1.20k, followed by Livestock with 15k gain to close at N2.25k and Flour Mill with a gain of N1.80k to close at N31.00.

 

Conversely, Sunu Assurance topped the losers’ list after it lost 8k to close at 73k. Lasaco lost 15k to close at N1.37k, while African Prudential lost 5k to close at N5.95k.

 

First Bank Nigeria Holdings dominated activity chart for the second day as it traded 64,588 million shares worth N471.80 million, while Zenith was next with a share value of N1.34 billion from 52.673 million shares.
