The equities market of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Tuesday built on its yesterday’s marginal growth, ending the day’s trading on a positive with support from buying interests in DANGOTE CEMENT PLC, AXAMANSARD INSURANCE PLC and NASCON ALLIED INDUSTRIES PLC stocks.
Both the All-Share Index and the Market Capitalization advanced by 0.36%, while the All-Share Index closed at 40,295.95 basis points, up 0.36 percent or 145.17 basis points from 40,150.78 basis points.
The Market Capitalization, grew by 0.36% or 76 billion Naira to close at 21,070 trillion Naira from 20,994 trillion Naira.
The total volume of trades increased by 247.5% to 1.17 billion units, valued at N7.97 billion and exchanged in 5,591 deals.
UPDC REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST was the most traded stock by volume and value at 755.01 million units of shares worth N4.153 trillion.
Sectoral performance was mixed: as the Insurance index grew 3.6%, Industrial Goods index grew 1.0, while Consumer Goods index grew 0.4%; the Banking index declined by 0.6% and Oil & Gas index fell 0.1%.
Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was positive as 27 stocks gained, relative to 20 losers.
Top 3 gainers at the close of Tuesday’s activities are:
NIGER INSURANCE PLC, which gained 0.02k or 10.00 percent to close at 0.22k per share from previous selling price of 0.20k per share.
Likewise OMATEK VENTURES PLC, which moved from a previous selling price of 0.20k per share to close at 0.22k per share, also gaining 0.02k or 10.00 percent.
Then, MUTUAL BENEFITS ASSURANCE PLC upped from 0.30k per share to 0.33k per share, gaining 0.03k or 10.00 percent.
Conversely, OANDO PLC topped the losers’ chart, falling from N3.70k per share to close at N3.50k per share, losing 0.20k or 5.41 percent.
UACN PROPERTY DEVELOPMENT COMPANY PLC followed with a decline from previous selling price of 0.84k per share to 0.80k per share, losing 0.04k or 4.76 percent, while DEAP CAPITAL MANAGEMENT & TRUST PLC fell from 0.21k per share to 0.20k per share by 0.01k or 4.76 percent.
