The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps has congratulated Nigerians on the celebration of this year’s Christmas and the New Year, saying the blessings of God have been evident on the nation’s roundabout.

In a message to mark the celebrations, the Director General, Yusuf Yakub noted that “the year 2025 is concluding on very glorious notes for Nigeria and Nigerians, and used the opportunity to sue for closer unity and all-encompassing love among the citizenry,” explaining that 2026 will make things work even better than 2025.

Yakub admonished Nigerians to imbibe the deepest feelings of good neighbourliness and challenged them to ensure that the joy of the season of Christmas and the New Year celebration is spread abroad through the acts of sharing of gifts and friendship in spite of whatever differences we may retain in creed or tongue as a people.

It is when the greater percentage of the people in the land that are celebrating exhibit the we-feelings of love, camaraderie and oneness that the entire country becomes a huge carnival of celebration and conviviality,” he re-emphasised.

The Director General called on “Nigerians remain peaceful, united and rise above all the existing or imaginary minor threats to security and every little eventual happenstance that may possess the capacity to threaten the joyful flow of these times.”

The former federal lawmaker urged Nigerians to have greater faith in their leaders and their ability to turn things around.

He also used the occasion to call for continuous support and prayers for the President, the Vice President, leaders of the Legislature, state governors, and other public office holders, asking God to strengthen them daily in their commitment to service and imbue them with the wisdom and focus needed to steer the Nigerian state in the right direction, especially in the New Year.

The Nigerian Technical Aid Corps is a foreign policy instrument established in 1987 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an alternative to direct financial aid to African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries.

Since its inception, the Scheme has served as an instrument for fostering bilateral and triangular relations and understanding between Nigeria and African, Caribbean, and Pacific countries.
