The National Youth Service Corps NYSC in Ebonyi State Southeast Nigeria has commenced activities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Scheme on 22nd May 2023.
One of the activities that started today was the road walk sensitisation which started from the Pa Ngele Oruta township Stadium to Spera in Deo flyover in Abakaliki the State capital.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Mercy Bamai disclosed this to journalists during the sensitisation road walk.
Bamai said the NYSC scheme will be clocking 50 years by 22nd May 2023.
“As you can see from the T-shirts we are wearing is already indicating that National Youth Service Corps will clock 50 years on 22nd May and we are happy over the achievements of the scheme so far in Nigeria. It has unified the country”
“NYSC has created employment for the youths through our entrepreneur and skill acquisition scheme”, she said.
Bamai added that the corps has empowered many youths as well.
The Chairman of NYSC State Governing Board, Mr Charles Akpenika, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youths and Sports, Mr Ben Okike commended NYSC for their numerous achievements in the State including uniting the people of the country.
