The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps NYSC in Nigeria, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim has warned Corps Members against embarking on authorised journeys.
The Director-General gave the instruction on Friday September 10, 2021 during his visit to the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Katsina State, North-West Nigeria.
According to him, the employers of Corps Members have no right to permit them to travel. He explained that it is only the NYSC State Coordinator that can permit Corps Members to travel.
Speaking further, General Ibrahim explained that for any Corps Member who wishes to travel out of the country, it is only the DG that can give permission for such journey.
He warned that any Corps Member who disobeys this order will be dealt with in accordance with the NYSC bye-laws. He urged the Corps Members to go through the NYSC Acts and Bye-laws so as to be well informed.
He also urged Corps members to avoid night travelling. He directed that any Corps Member who is travelling and finds that the time is getting to 6pm should stop the journey and report to the nearest Corps lodge, police, DSS or Military station for shelter.
The Director-General also advised them to report to the nearest health centre when they observe any symptom or signs of Covid-19 such as shortness of breath, excessive headache, dry cough and weight loss.
He passionately appealed to the Corps Members to adhere strictly to Covid-19 safety protocols and also ensure they are vaccinated against Covid-19. He further warned the Corps members to shun any act of criminality that will dent their image and the Scheme.
He however appreciated the Corps Camp Directors and other social Corps groups operating in the orientation camp.
