Ogun: Governor Dapo Abiodun Urges Unity, Hope Amid Eid Celebrations

As Muslims worldwide rejoice in the festivities of Eid Al-Fitr, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has implored Nigerians to nurture hope for a brighter future through unified prayers from both Christian and Muslim communities.

Governor Abiodun lauded the harmonious cohabitation among diverse religious groups within the state, fostering a conducive environment for effective governance in the Gateway State.

In a statement to mark Eid Al-Fitr, the governor reassures Nigerians that concerted efforts from both federal and state authorities will soon alleviate the prevailing economic challenges.

Reflecting on his administration’s proactive measures amid economic adversities, such as the recent distribution of food palliatives and ‘Educash’ transfers, Governor Abiodun emphasizes their intent to alleviate the burdens faced by the state’s populace.

Acknowledging the invaluable support of religious institutions in his governance endeavours, the governor advocates for love, mutual understanding, unity, and peaceful coexistence among the people of Ogun State.

He urged Muslims to integrate the profound teachings of Ramadan into their daily lives, emphasizing virtues such as patience, self-discipline, compassion, and kindness.

“Let us take a moment to reflect on the lessons learnt throughout the holy month of Ramadan and allow the spirit of Eid to guide our actions towards compassion, kindness, and understanding. Together, may we continue to build a thriving community where everyone feels valued and included.

“As we rejoice in this festive period, let us also remember to uphold the core values of humanity, respect, and harmonious co-existence that define our great state. By embracing these ideals, we can forge a better future for all,” he said.

Eid Al-Fitr is annually celebrated by Muslims worldwide after the completion of the mandatory Ramadan fast, converge to observe a 2-rakat prayer to thank Allah.
