The 2023 gubernatorial candidate of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. David Emmanuel Ombugadu, has returned to the PDP after spending weeks in the All Progressive Congress (APC).

He explained that he joined the ruling party to deliver President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, but the party denied his followers membership registration in the state, which was the reason he left the party again for the PDP.

Dr Ombugadu disclosed this during an interface with members of the correspondent’s chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Nasarawa State, in Lafia, the state capital.

He explained that he requested the APC open a portal to register his members who left the opposition party to join them, but the party denied him that chance.

Ombugadu, however, explained that with his capacity and as a seasoned politician who has followers across sectors in the state, he can never be a king in his house and later become a servant in someone’s house.

“I didn’t request any position to be given to me in the party, not even ward chairman or secretary; I only requested registration of my members, which they denied me, which was the reason I left the APC again.”

“I say I cannot stay in a place where my people and I are not safe. And I can never be a king in my house and later become a servant in someone’s house,” he stated.

Also speaking, the former Nasarawa State PDP chairman, Francis Orugo, who spoke on the position of the party, said that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in the state, remains a powerful party to challenge the ruling party in the state.

On the rumour making the rounds in the state, that Ombugadu is only seen during the time of politics, Mr Francis Orugo debunked rumours, saying Dr Ombugadu is seen all the time, calling on the general public to disregard the speculation.
