Ondo State: INEC And Security Agencies Express Readiness For Elections

Nigeria’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC and security agencies in Ondo State have expressed readiness for Saturday’a Prwsidential and National Assembly elections.

they said they have put in place, all necessary measures for a hitch free electoral process.

The State Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, disclosed that over seven thousand security personnel have been deployed for the polls.

He said security agents would frown at any activity capable of undermining security before, during and after the polls.

He says, “We assure the public that we are ready for the success of the forthcoming elections. Over seven thousand (7,000) combined security personnel are covering the polls. The public should be assured that the elections will be peaceful, and we are all ready for that purpose. Thuggery and related vices will not be allowed.

“We will have free and fair elections on Saturday. We have not arrested anybody in the state for electoral offence so far”.

According to him, security officers deployed include policemen, men of the Nigerian Army, officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigeria Immigration Service, and the Nigeria Navy among others.

The Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Oyegoke Oyelana stated that adequate sensitisation had been done on the usage of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS.

He said over seventeen thousand ad hoc personnel has been deployed to serve in various capacities across the three thousand nine hundred thirty-three polling units in the 18 local government areas of the state.
