Organisers call off 2nd Onitsha City Marathon

The organisers of the Onitsha City Marathon have announced the cancellation of the second edition of the event which was originally scheduled to take place later this month.

The Onitsha Business School, organisers of the event, made this known in a statement signed by its Deputy Project Manager, Philip Balepo, on Friday.

While regretting the disappointment the news may bring to participants and fans alike, it promised that the marathon will now take place next year.

According to the statement, the general public is hereby notified that the 2023 Onitsha City Marathon (OCM), will no longer hold.

“The Main Organizing Committee (MOC), in conjunction with our Marketing Partners, GLS PROJECTS, look forward to the 2024 edition. For every inconvenience, kindly bear with us,” it said.

The first edition was held in October 2019.
