Nigerian football icon Asisat Oshoala has etched her name deeper into the history books by clinching the prestigious CAF Women’s Player of the Year award for a record sixth time, further solidifying her status as one of the greatest female footballers of all time.
This latest accolade comes after a stellar year that saw her play a pivotal role in propelling Barcelona Femeni to victory in the UEFA Women’s Champions League
The 29-year-old striker beat South African Thembi Kgatlana and Zambia’s Barbara Banda to retain her crown at Monday’s CAF Awards gala in Marrakech, Morocco.

Oshoala now moves clear of fellow Nigerian Perpetua Nkwocha with six total wins, more than any other African in history.
The veteran striker was Barcelona’s top scorer last season, scoring 27 goals across all competitions as the Spanish giants clinched a domestic double. Her goals helped Barcelona retain its Primera Division title and overcome Lyon to lift the UEFA Champions League in Turin.
