Osun LG Election: APC Caucus declares support for Consensus Candidate
On Sunday, the elders and stakeholder caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Irepodun South Local Council Development Authority, Erin Osun, Osun State, declared support for Muniru Bamidele as the consensus candidate for the October 15 Osun local government election.
A statement confirmed the group’s position signed by 22 leaders of the party, including the Ward Chairman, Mudasiru Anisere, gotten in Osogbo.
The group also rejected the incumbent Chairman Adekunle Oloyede’s move to seek another term in office, insisting that Bamidele was selected as the consensus candidate for the poll.
The statement read in part, “we chose Mr. Bamidele among the ten aspirants as the party’s candidate in the forthcoming local government election. After the nomination process, Mr. Bamidele was advised to obtain the Expression of Interest and Nomination Form.
“After that, news started flying around the community that the incumbent Caretaker Chairman, (Adekunle Oloyede), who showed no interest and did not present himself for screening organised by the party leadership in his Local Government Area, that he is the governor’s anointed candidate.
“We affirm that the nomination of Mr Bamidele still subsists and remains unchangeable.”
When contacted for reaction, the Caretaker Chairman, Irepodun South LCDA, Oloyede, said the matter was an APC affair that the party leaders would resolve.
