Osun State Government Flaunts Achievements In Health Sector

The State Government of Osun led by Governor Ademola Adeleke has flashed its scorecard in the health sector to the public.

Governor Adeleke said, showcasing the achievements was necessary to let the people know how his government had fared since it was inaugurated.

The Governor who noted that health and welfare of residents of the state remained priority for him and would do everything possible to enhance it.

He said, “In our upholding of governance as a continuum, we initiated our landmark infra agenda alongside a multi-sector social investment programme.

“We have come to accept that as we build the road, we must intensify the strengthening of the body.

“Within our mantra of health is wealth, our government is pursuing a policy of total transformation of the health sector,” he declared.

Adeleke explained that in order to achieve his objective of transforming the health sector of the state, he ensured that dwellers of rural and urban areas were the direct beneficiaries of his healthcare policies.

He said several ongoing constructions, renovation and upgrade of healthcare facilities across the state as well as periodic interventions were tailored to make his objective realizable.

He also said that in spite of the limited resources available to the state, his government was still able to impact the sector in a positive and transformative way.

The Governor said, “Millions of households in Osun State received 3.5 million Long Lasting Insecticide Treated Nets (LLITN) that were bought and given out by the government free of charge.

“The government Procured Family Planning Commodities, HIV kits, and RDT and distributed them across health facilities in the State.

“Also, the government launched HIV/AIDS treatment surge for effective treatment and monitoring of HIV/AIDS cases thereby reducing the incidence /prevalence of the disease,” he added.

Governor Adeleke further disclosed that apart from renovation and upgrade of over 100 Primary Healthcare Centres across the state, his administration had also commenced the building of new ones.

Construction of a Modern Primary Health Care Centre at Sabo, Olorunda Local Government Area of Osun State (under the CSDA).

Construction and equipping of a Modern Primary Health Care centre at Araromi Olowu in Atakunmosa East Local Government Area of Osun State (under the CSDA).

Ongoing construction of Modern Primary Health Care Centres in the following locations: Ogbaagba, Odo-Otin (Iwo LG), Oluode (Iwo LG) and Agurodo (Ejigbo LG) all under the CSDA programme.

Approval of comprehensive renovation and upgrading of 345 Health Facilities across the State (100-billion-Naira Infrastructure building).

Governor Adeleke said that while his government prioritized building of health infrastructure, it did not neglect welfare of the healthcare workers.

He stated that Osun State had started paying the 100 percent hazard allowances to state health workers as approved by the Federal Government.

He also noted that his administration had made it compulsory that entry point for nurses serving in the state would be Grade level 10, adding that approval had been given for Residency Training Fund for Uniosun Teaching Hospital.

Governor Ademola Adeleke presented the scorecard in Ilesha, Osun State, at the second edition of “Ipade Imole” an interactive session with the public, where he gave an account of his stewardship to the people.
