Over 20 PDP Members Defect to APC in Ebonyi State

A cohort of over 20 former members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), led by Maurice Mbam, has recently pledged allegiance to the APC under the leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has garnered significant support, exemplifying a shift in political allegiance.

Responsive leadership

This shift is rooted in the ethos of effective governance and responsive leadership championed by Governor Nwifuru, aligning with the aspirations outlined by President Ahmed Tinubu.

The pivotal moment of defection coincided with the visit of Mrs. Uzoamaka Nwifuru, the Governor’s Wife, to Izzi Local Government Area.

Her presence was alsoaAPa marked the inauguration of committees for the flagship initiative, Better Health for Rural Women, Children, and Internally Displaced Persons (BERWO).

Through BERWO, 1300 Ebonyi residents have been enrolled in health insurance schemes, receiving essential medical care free of charge.

Acknowledging the transformative impact of BERWO, stakeholders such as Barrister Stephen Nwankpa, Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, lauded Mrs. Nwifuru’s commitment to enhancing healthcare access for the marginalised segments of society.

Unwavering support

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Internal Security, Mr Felix Okemini emphasised the project’s role in empowering vulnerable groups through legal provisions, pledging unwavering support.

The Chairman of the Revenue Appeal Commission, Barrister Augustine Nwankwegu called for unity and support for the present administration.

He highlighted the tangible improvements witnessed under Governor Nwifuru’s leadership, emphasising the administration’s dedication to fostering unity and prosperity across all levels of governance.

In a show of solidarity, Mr. Dustan Nwogbaga, Former Chairman of the Local Government, invoked divine providence to guide and sustain the current administration in its endeavors, underscoring the collective aspirations for progress and inclusivity within Ebonyi State.
