Oyo Assembly Passes Governor Makinde’s Commissioner-nominees

The Oyo State House of Assembly has passed the seven commissioner-nominees forwarded to it by Governor Seyi Makinde and fixed Tuesday, 27th of June, 2023, for the screening of the nominees.

The speaker of the House, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, while reading the message from the Executive on Thursday, directed the commissioner-nominees to submit their credentials to the Office of the Clerk before 5 pm on Friday.

Ogundoyin also directed the former commissioners on the list to submit evidence of submission of the Code of Conduct Bureau form.

Governor Seyi Makinde had, on Tuesday, forwarded the names of seven commissioner-nominees to the state House of Assembly.

The list contains six former commissioners and one new person. There are five males and two females on the list.

The commissioner-nominees, as read and passed by the lawmakers during Thursday’s plenary include Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, Mr Akinola Ojo, Prof Musibau Babatunde, Prof Daud Sangodoyin, Mr Seun Ashamu, Alhaja Faosat Sanni and Mrs Toyin Balogun.

Also during Thursday’s plenary, the House ordered the reinstatement of two local government chairmen who were suspended over allegations of misappropriation of funds.

The order followed the recommendations presented in a report by the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, which said the cleared chairmen were falsely accused.
