The Oyo State House of Assembly, has, on Wednesday, passed into law the N50billion supplementary budget forwarded to it by Governor Seyi Makinde.

The bill was passed after the consideration of the report of the Adhoc Committee on Public Account and Appropriation, headed by Hon. Akeem Mustapha during Wednesday plenary.

Governor Makinde had, on Tuesday, in a letter sent and read on the floor of the House, requested for the passage of the N50billion supplementary budget, saying the fund is to cater to three specific things which were not captured earlier in the passed 2021 Appropriation Bill.

The request scaled through first and second readings on Tuesday with the lawmakers adjourning to Wednesday on the ground that quick and prompt attention be given to the governor’s request.

The bill, after the clause-by-clause consideration at the Committee of the Whole House chaired by Speaker Adebo Ogundoyin, was unanimously passed into law by the lawmakers.

Speaking with reporters shortly after the plenary, the Chairman of the Adhoc Committee, Akeem Mustapha, said the budget was for infrastructural development of the state.

The three projects, according to Governor Seyi Makinde, include Ibadan Circular Road (N25b), Iseyin-Ogbomoso Road (N15b) and Ibadan Airport Improvement (N10b).

The governor explained that the fund would be provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria under the Differentiated Cash Reserves Requirements (DCRR) of which one hundred billion naira was approved by the state’s House of Assembly.

Similarly, the House, also on Wednesday, screened and subsequently approved the appointment of Mr David Okedeji as the Chairman, Oyo State Audit Service Commission.

Mr Okedeji, who hails from Oyo Town thanked Governor Makinde for the appointment and promised to discharge his duties for the development of the state.

He said the establishment of the Oyo State Audit Service Commission was long overdue, considering its importance to the smooth running of governance.
